SUBSTITUTE SCHOOL NURSES
The Farmington Valley VNA manages the School Nursing Program for the Town of Granby in their elementary, intermediate, middle, and high schools. We are in need of CT-licensed RN’s for substitute school nurses (per diem). This position offers flexible hours with partial and full shifts needed in the various Granby schools. Candidate must hold a current, valid State of Connecticut RN license, Bachelor's degree preferred. Must hold current, valid CPR/AED or BLS certification. Experience in pediatrics or school nursing preferred. Starting hourly rate of $32.00. The Granby Public Schools provides a comprehensive educational program for 1,740 students in Grades PK-12. Granby is an outstanding rural school district with a talented staff, enthusiastic student body and a supportive community. The district is characterized by its academic excellence, a rich variety of athletic, artistic and co-curricular opportunities and a commitment to high standards of personal behavior. The district is supported by over 200 certified staff and more than 125 non-certified staff.
Student achievement is high on multiple measures including SBAC, NGSS, PSAT, SAT, and AP testing. Hartford Magazine, Connecticut Magazine and US News & World Report have constantly rated Granby high in the education category for small towns. Schools within the district have received national and state recognitions in the past five years.

Our Schools in 2023-2024
Recent district highlights include a focus on “Elements of Effective Instruction” including a Learning Environment that is reflective of Social Emotional Learning and Culturally Responsive Teaching methods, a revised Vision of a Graduate, and a commitment to the Teachers College Reading, Writing and Phonics Units of Study and Illustrative Math Resources K-8. Highlights for student programming include extending the strings program through grade 7; a realignment of world language programming; a renewed commitment to youth advocacy groups, and, a continued focus and integrating technology into daily instruction with the 1:1 device program.
